Bathroom Tiling Specialists in Kent & Medway
Whether you're planning a full bathroom renovation, converting a room into a wet room, or refreshing tired tiles in a shower enclosure — Andy Bull Services delivers clean, precise, long-lasting results across Kent and Medway. We've tiled hundreds of bathrooms across Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Maidstone and the wider Kent area over the past 20 years, and bathroom tiling remains our most requested service.
Good bathroom tiling is about far more than laying tiles in straight lines. It starts with correct surface preparation — any flex or movement in the substrate will crack grout joints and eventually the tiles themselves. We assess every surface before we start and address any issues before a single tile goes up. Waterproofing is applied to all wet areas as standard, not as an optional extra. And we take the time to set out each job properly so cuts are balanced, patterns are centred, and the finished result looks considered rather than rushed.
Tile choice makes a significant difference to both the quality of the finish and the longevity of the installation. Large format porcelain tiles — increasingly popular in Kent bathrooms — require a flatter, more carefully prepared surface than smaller ceramics, and any compromise at the preparation stage shows immediately in the finished result. We'll always be straightforward with you about what a given tile format demands and whether your existing walls and floors are up to it before you commit to a purchase.
We work across all bathroom types — small en-suites in new-build properties, large family bathrooms in period Rochester and Chatham homes, and full wet room conversions that need to perform reliably for decades. Every job gets the same level of care regardless of size or budget, and we won't start work until we've given you a fixed written quote with no hidden extras.

What to Expect: Our Bathroom Tiling Process
Every bathroom tiling job follows the same structured process, whether it's a small shower enclosure or a full wet room installation. Here's what happens from first contact through to completion.
1. Free Site Visit & Quote
We visit the property, assess the surfaces, take measurements, and discuss your tile choice and layout preferences. You'll receive a fixed written quote — not an estimate — before any work is agreed.
2. Surface Preparation
Old tiles are removed where needed and surfaces checked for flex, damp, and levelness. Any remedial work — patching, boarding, or priming — is completed before tiling begins. This stage is non-negotiable.
3. Waterproofing
All wet areas — shower enclosures, wet rooms, and areas around baths — are tanked using a professional waterproofing system before any tiles are fixed. This protects the substrate and the structure of the building long-term.
4. Setting Out & Tiling
We set out the layout carefully before fixing any tiles — ensuring patterns are centred, cuts are balanced at the edges, and any features such as niches or borders are positioned correctly. Tiles are then fixed using the appropriate adhesive for the tile format and substrate.
5. Grouting & Finishing
Grouting begins only once the adhesive has fully cured — typically 24 hours minimum. Grout colour and joint width are agreed with you in advance. Exposed edges and internal corners can be finished in a number of ways depending on the look you want — silicone in a matching or contrasting colour, chrome or brushed brass trim profiles, or plain mitred tile edges for a seamless finish. We'll talk through the options before we start so the finished result is exactly what you had in mind. The space is left clean and ready to use.
6. Final Check
Before we leave, we go through the finished job with you. Any concerns are addressed on the spot. We don't consider a job complete until you're satisfied with the result.
